Ceramic Tile Care Tips & Maintenance |
|
|
Maintaining tile is minimal if done on a regular basis. It is a low maintenance floor, wall or countertop option. For daily cleaning, sponge down tile with manufacturers recommended tile and grout cleaner: or with a non-abrasive household cleaner. Clean up spills as soon as possible to prevent staining of the tile or grout. Various products are sold in stores for heavier cleaning of tile to remove soap scum, hard water deposits, or mildew stains. A mild scrubber or polisher may be needed to clean textured tile. Avoid scratching your tile with the use of abrasive cleaners or harsh scrubbing pads. Bleach and ammonia used on a regular basis can discolor grout. It may be necessary to re-grout and re-seal if tile has been neglected for a period of time. In some cases professional tile cleaners using industrial cleaning tools may be needed to address serious tile cleaning problems. You should mop your tile floors on a weekly basis with a damp mop. Use protective mats at doorway’s, stoves, and sinks to protect tile from excessive wear and use protective pads on furniture legs. Contact your ProSand Flooring expert for cleaning product compatibility with your tile and assessment of your existing tile. Since glass comes in a multitude of colors, recycled glass tile is available in a wide range of colors and can be incorporated in all types of designs. |
