Types Of Luxury Vinyl Flooring In Indianapolis

You probably remember vinyl for being budget-friendly not necessarily beautiful. So when you see the words luxury and vinyl together you may be skeptical.

Until you see what luxury vinyl types are like today.

Many people picture it being rolled out in thin sheets, susceptible to scald marks, burns, dings and cuts from the occasional sharp object and plenty of black scuffmarks from shoes. But today’s luxury vinyl is a virtually indestructible, waterproof resilient flooring that comes in planks and square tiles with incredible resemblances to some of nature’s most distinctive materials.

Trusted Names

Luxury vinyl flooring types were created by some of the most well-known innovators in flooring, first for commercial use and then for homeowners by Earthwerks, Halo Floors, Moduleo, Salto, Toli and Vinylasa.

The workhorse durability so prized in commercial settings was a definite benefit in homes as well and manufacturers began raising the bar on what was possible when it came to design and style.

Planks & Tiles

Thin rolled sheets of plastic have been replaced with 100 percent PVC planks and tiles that can be clicked into place with a locking lip system. And because they are installed with a resilient backing, they are comfortable to walk and stand on for extended periods of time and generally warmer underfoot than ceramic tile.

Tile sizes vary by manufacturer, but many styles are available in 12×12”, 18×18” and some in 12×24” sizes. Planks come in standard widths from 3” all the way up to 9” in certain styles.

Look & Feel

This is where luxury vinyl will surprise you, mimicking the rich look and feel of natural materials like wood and distressed wood, the tactile surfaces of stone, brick, ceramic and slate, even the look of woven textiles embedded in the vinyl. All in exact detail. Many people can’t tell the difference between luxury vinyl and the material it was made to resemble.

Durability

Luxury vinyl may just be the most durable flooring product available. Its planks and tiles are scratch, stain, dent and scuff resistant, waterproof and even impervious to harsh chemicals and cleaners like bleach, scouring powder and petroleum-based products. Paint can be gently wiped away, even if small flecks or brushstrokes have dried.

It’s also easy to keep your luxury vinyl looking like new with simple sweeping and damp mopping recommended for regular maintenance.
